Meet Sherry Steinaway

Founder | Coach | Organization Development Consultant & Leader

 Hi, I’m Sherry.

  • After a career in nonprofit organizations, higher education, and healthcare, I started my own consulting company, Steinaway & Associates LLC in order to help organizations and people find and fulfill their why while bringing forth a different way of working. A way of working that recognizes that people and human systems remain the primary reason why organizations thrive or fail and they require care and feeding on a daily basis.

I spent many years at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA in leadership roles in organizational development, training, and human resources. My last internal role was as the founding Director of Organizational Development at Gonzaga University. I began my professional career teaching in higher education and working in student life programs at the University of Washington, SUNY-Stony Brook, and the University of Michigan as well as community colleges in Michigan and Washington State.

  • My expertise lies in organizational development and change, leadership development, managing people, strategic planning and continuous improvement. I’m a lifelong learner with multiple certifications, including the CEC, SPHR, IEq9, and IDI. In addition, I’m a Fellow of the Advisory Board and hold Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. I have lead and supported change at all levels of an organization. My major successful projects have included transformational IT projects (change management, training and communications), strategically moving from provider centered care to patient centered care and, award winning leadership development programs just to name a few. I am most proud of the extraordinary teams I have lead and grown over 25 years of working with diverse and multitalented people.

I have coached all levels of leaders throughout my career and I’m a Certified Executive Coach through the ICF-Accredited Center for Executive Coaching.

  • I help clients become more capable and confident through targeted work that achieves alignment to your mission, solving your complex problems and creating sustainable changes. My practice is rooted in humanistic philosophy, systems thinking, performance improvement, healthy work environments, and servant leadership theories and applications.  As a Latina and first generation college student who has had a varied career in mostly leadership roles, I find that who and how we are, are fully tied to what we do whether we consciously acknowledge it or not. Self awareness is a lifelong journey and necessary for personal and leadership growth.
